The interesting thing about this photo of 2 native women and child packing stuff in 1897 at Dyea is the shape of the canoe which is very traditional, yet this one is not that decorative. It one of the few photos of Tlingit children and women at work.
I believe these to be my grandmothers. Please send a tiff copy of photo if possible and any other information with connection to Dyea peoples. My great grandmother may have been 3 to 5 years? and had a sister. This is the place owned by my great great grandfather Chief Klanott. he and his nephews were later murdered on the Chilkoot trail.
